Three-Martini Lunch 3660 On The Rise

The three-martini lunch, now a thing of the past, was once considered the ultimate business meeting – and prior to 1986, the entire check was on Uncle Sam. Today, 50 percent of your lunchtime libations might remain tax deductible, but there’s hardly anyone ordering a martini.

Do we miss it? Not today, but in a different time, its passing was mourned by none other than the president. It was, remarked Gerald Ford, “the epitome of American efficiency.”

“Where else,” he asked, “can you get an earful, belly-full and a snoot-full all at the same time?”

You won’t find 3660 on The Rise open at lunchtime, but you will find it one of the best places to stop by and enjoy a martini next time you feel the urge.

Originally made with gin and vermouth, today you’re as likely to find an award-winning cocktail with vodka. Which one should you use? That one’s up to you. Lychee Martini


* 1 ounce Vodka

* 1 3/4 ounces fresh lychee juice

Apple Martini


* 1 1/2 ounces vodka

* Splash of sweet and sour

* 1 ounce Apple Pucker

Grape Martini


* 1 1/2 ounces vodka

* 1 ounce Welch’s Grape Juice

* Splash of 7UP


For each martini, throw all ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake. Pour into a martini glass. Garnish appropriately.
