The Hawai‘i Food & Wine Festival is returning for yet another tasty foray of gastronomic finesse. 2015 marks HFWF’s fifth anniversary, which will showcase the Hawaiian Islands’ bounty of fresh ingredients and produce (sourced via local famers, fishermen, etc.), across Maui, Hawai‘i and O‘ahu.
The two-week festival spans Aug. 29 through Sept. 13, expanding its chef roster and Maui events. Spotlighting sustainable cuisine, the celebration is expected to draw in crowds of up to 10,000+ through interactive dining experiences, cooking demos, tastings and panels.
“Our goal is to have an extensive roster of culinary events in every location, so that travelers can plan their vacations to different islands and still have access to a full range of festival experiences,” says Denise Yamaguchi, HFWF executive director.
HFWF’s 100+ visiting and resident chefs include: Ed Kenney, Cat Cora, Michelle Karr-Ueoka and Wade Ueoka, David LeFevre, Mark Noguchi, Charles Phan, Paul Qui, Christina Tosi, Ming Tsai, Jonathan Waxman and Lee Anne Wong. Festival proceeds support Hawai‘i Agriculture Foundation, Culinary Institute of the Pacific, Maui County Farm Bureau, Paepae o He‘eia, among other local sustainable and food-oriented charities and institutions.
