Art Deco via Honolulu

On Thursday, July 3, Honolulu Museum of Art proudly premieres Art Deco Hawai‘ithe first major museum exhibition to spotlight a sensual, Hawaiian interpretation of Art Deco

According to Honolulu Museum of Art, “Art Deco manifested itself in Honolulu and its environs as a schematized visual language based on the natural beauty and fabled past of the islands. As such, it served as a motivating source for modernism in the fine arts and a sustaining mode for constructing “paradise” for the tourism and advertising industries.”

HILuxury is an honored sponsor of the eclectic exhibition highlighting a local take on an international art form. Celebrate a rich representative of paintings and sculptures with a regional aesthetic at Art Deco Hawai‘i, on display from July 13, 2014 through January 11, 2015.

Featured artists: Eugene Savage, Robert Lee Eskridge, Cornelia McIntyre Foley, John Kelly, Genevieve Lynch, Lloyd Sexton, Madge Tennent and Georgia O’Keeffe. For more information, visit the Honolulu Museum of Art website.

Featured artwork: Red Sails, painting by Arman T. Manookian, part of Art Deco Hawai‘i, opening July 3.
