Royal Ball at ‘Iolani Palace

Masked performers lined the driveway of ‘Iolani Palace, for the Royal Ball, one of the most regal affairs in the islands. The celebration, called A Night to Unmask Your Seven Senses, included a Royal Supper by Chef Chai on the Palace’s four lanais. Guests seated at the Nobles Table and Royal Boxes were given a box of Hawaiian salts from Sea Salts of Hawai’i as a symbol of blessing for King Kalakaua’s birthday. Later, the ladies and gentlemen entered the Grand Hall and descended the front steps of the Palace into a ballroom constructed on the grounds.
