The popular designer is known for luxury sportswear and crisp looks

The always-in designer opens a new Ala Moana boutique

The general public became acquainted with Michael Kors in 2004, when the witty, ebullient designer made his debut as one of three regular judges on the television fashion competition Project Runway. But fashion enthusiasts have followed Kors’ work since 1981, when, after successfully working for other labels, the designer’s good reviews in the fashion press led him to strike out on his own, establishing Michael Kors as America’s preeminent designer of luxury sportswear.

His company produces a range of clothing, accessories and fragrances through the Michael Kors Collection, KORS Michael Kors and MICHAEL Michael Kors.

Kors is one of the few designers who has won the Council of Fashion Designers of America’s Designer of the Year award for both women (1999) and men (2003), and despite the rigors of being on a hit TV show, has kept his company moving steadily forward with boutiques across the nation, Asia, Europe and Canada, spreading American style across the globe.

As a traveler’s destination, Hawaii is a fitting location for Kors’ newest lifestyle boutique at Ala Moana Center. Kors has long been associated with sleek, sophisticated garments and accessories exuding jet-set attitude and casual chic.

Michael Kors designs are worn by such stylish, globe-trotting celebs as Char-lize Theron, Madonna, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Anjelica Huston and Gwyneth Paltrow.

His collections are full of classic cardigans, crisp blouses, dress pants and sleek, minimalist dresses and tunics that embrace style over trendiness. His pieces guarantee you’ll never be out of step, no matter which city you wake up in tomorrow.
