From the moment an 11-year-old Michael Jackson entered the public consciousness in 1969 with the Jackson Five on the Ed Sullivan Show stage, there was no doubt he was a star. Even then, he had all the right moves, dancing his way from funk, R&B and soul roots into his lengthy reign as the King of Pop.
He was one with dancing, his body a continuous flow of pop, slides, spins and hand gestures.
He also was an icon of fashion, his style instantly recognizable and distinct, from his single glove to his metallic body armor, or cropped pant and flash of white sock that signaled all to keep their eyes on his feet.
In many ways, Michael Jackson was an artist ahead of his time, his legacy timeless.
