The familiar markers of season’s change – the falling leaves, the darkening of the sky – hardly apply in the Islands. The blue of the ocean, black of lava rock and white coral remain constant, hinting little of time or season as marked by man.
At Hilton Waikoloa Village on the Big Island, this most ancient and contemporary setting provides a stark counterpoint to autumn’s deep browns, charcoals, black and mauve.
These dark hues are enlivened with touches of burnt orange and red, the fiery colors of Madame Pele, for looks bound to keep you warm when the mercury dips.
