As we explore the 50th State Fair decked out in an assortment of colorful pre-Fall fashions, one thing is very clear: The sophisticated lady can absolutely be fun and flirty.

  • Waiting for her prize in Salvatore Ferragamo: ‘prugna’ dress, 100 percent wool, in plum $1,200; ‘Gancio’ bracelet in gold.
