Dimension One Spas offers a new way to work out

Aquatic exercise is a fitness trend that has been touted for its numerous bodily benefits. Aerobic work-outs done in a pool get an added boost, as every movement generates an extra bit of natural resistance with each ebb and flow of the water.

It’s “twice the workout in half the time,” says Dimension One Spas.

The company, a leading manufacturer of hot tubs and aquatic fitness systems, capitalizes on water’s fitness-enhancing capabilities. Its AquaFit 19 Dual Temp model is a full-range “aquatic gym” that expands the scope of exercises and hydro-therapy available for home use.

“We want to work all parts of your body, both horizontal and vertical – in other words, swimming or standing up and lifting weights,” says Bob Hallam, founder of Dimension One Spas, on the Aquatic Fitness Systems Web site. “There is nothing on the market that gives you what this product gives you.”

The AquaFit 19 Dual Temp fitness system builds on the fundamentals of a normal full-body regimen: cardiovascular training, muscle strengthening and toning, stretch ing and, finally, relaxation. The AquaFit 19 Dual Temp has special features and equipment built in for each fitness pillar.

Avid swimmers will find the heart-pumping and endurance benefits of the sport, as water-current jets offer a stationary swimming feature. These water currents also enhance other cardiovascular and aerobic exercises, such as running and walking in the pool. Built-in resistance cords, as well as rods for rowing simulation, take on muscle strengthening for arms, legs and the core.

“Water’s buoyancy reduces impact and supports the body for increased range of motion,” says Mary E. Sanders, Ph.D., a professor at the University of Nevada’s School of Medicine and Public Health who has partnered with Dimension One Spas’ Aquatic Fitness System team. “Water’s viscosity or ‘thickness’ – about 800 times greater than air – makes it an effective exercise environment in which to build muscular endurance.”

After exercise, owners of the AquaFit 19 Dual Temp fitness system can bask in the unit’s most unique feature: a hot tub area at the opposite side of the pool. The temperature of this “totally self-contained, bona fide hot tub” is independent of the temperature set in the regular pool, which makes for quick and easy transitioning between workouts and relaxing hydrotherapy sessions.

Dimension One Spas has created the AquaFit 19 Dual Temp fitness system with the health and well-being of its user in mind, hopeful that it will help them reap the myriad benefits of an aquatic fitness regimen: increased cardiovascular health, effective weight management, prenatal care and even improved sleep and mental health.

“The AFS is the next step in water therapy, a whole new revolution backed by innovation,” Hallam says.

The AquaFit 19 Dual Temp model costs $45,000. It measures 228 inches in length, 90 inches in width and 52 inches in height. For more information and further installation requirements, visit www.aquaticfitnesssystems.com.
